Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) Breath Test

$1,330

State-of-the-art breath test. Hydrogen breath tests are used to assist with a clinical medical diagnosis for people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and common food intolerances/malabsorptions. The test is simple, non-invasive, and is performed after a short period of fasting (typically 12 hours).

When testing for conditions such as lactose, fructose, sucrose intolerances, and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), studies have demonstrated the importance of hydrogen and methane production. More than 30% of healthy adult subjects produce methane in addition to or instead of hydrogen. This allows medical professionals to review the most comprehensive results to relieve patients' IBS or other gastrointestinal disorders/symptoms.

SIBO is also known as bacterial overgrowth, or Small bowel bacterial overgrowth syndrome (SBBOS) and is a disorder of excessive bacterial growth in the small intestine. Unlike the colon (or large bowel), which is rich with bacteria, the small bowel usually has fewer than 104 organisms per milliliter.

Take this test if you are experiencing the following symptoms:

  • nausea
  • bloating
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • malnutrition
  • weight loss
  • malabsorption
